MEET THE TEAM

A diverse team of security professionals, educators, and responders united by a shared mission: to help people stay safe, prepared, and empowered.

  • Nick Frankus brings 20 years of law enforcement experience to OBZ, including extensive work as an undercover narcotics officer and tactical team member with one of Oregon’s largest metropolitan police forces. He currently serves as a sergeant and SWAT co-team leader, where he helps plan and coordinate realistic, scenario-based training and responds to critical incidents, including active shooter and hostage situations. Nick also serves as a patrol tactics instructor with his department’s training division and has spent thousands of hours training everyone from new recruits to highly experienced SWAT teams. At OBZ, he brings that experience into the workplace, helping people understand how to recognize danger, make decisions under pressure, and respond when it matters most.

  • Russ Corno is a longtime Oregon law enforcement professional and has been part of OBZ since its beginning. During more than 20 years with Portland SWAT, he helped develop new approaches to responding to school and workplace violence in the years following Columbine. His work emphasized an important lesson: responding to a violent incident isn't only about stopping the threat—it is also about getting lifesaving care to injured people as quickly as possible. After responding to several high-profile active-shooter incidents, Russ became a strong advocate for practical trauma care and personal awareness. Now retired from law enforcement, he continues to consult with SWAT teams around the country and occasionally leads OBZ Workplace Preparedness sessions, sharing the experience and lessons he has gained throughout his career.

  • Troy Gilmore brings more than two decades of experience in physical and personnel security, including service with the U.S. Marine Corps’ elite Marine Security Guard Battalion. During his military career, he inspected and helped strengthen security at U.S. embassies in South Africa and Cyprus before going on to serve as a Department of Defense security advisor from 2004 to 2011. His work took him to high-threat environments throughout the Middle East, where he conducted vulnerability and risk assessments, helped design security systems, and provided protective and force-protection services. Following 9/11, Troy also conducted physical security inspections for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Federal Protective Service at sites throughout Oregon. He holds a degree in Security Management, with honors, from American Public University.

  • Born and raised in Kenya, Kip Onditi is a graduate of Kenyatta University with a background in business administration. He brings an international perspective to One Back Zebra, shaped by his experiences in East Africa and his understanding of how different communities approach safety and security. At OBZ, Kip works largely behind the scenes, helping keep the back office organized and the business running smoothly. He enjoys bringing structure to the many moving parts of a growing company and making sure the team has what it needs to do its work. His business background, international outlook, and practical approach make him a valued part of the OBZ team.
